Camp Workcoeman is used year-round for short-term camping for all Scouting Cub Packs, Scout Troops, and Venture Crews, as well as for district and Order of the Arrow activities.
During the six week summer camp season, over 1,200 Scouts enjoy unforgettable Scouting experiences. June 1st is an important and busy day at camp as both Beaver Day and our annual Steak Dinner will be held.
The Steak Dinner, hosted by the Citizens of Shawtown, is an annual fundraiser. Dinner begins in the Camp Workcoeman Dining Hall at 6 PM and is preceded by hors d'oeuvres at 5:30 PM. The cost to attend is $25 for adults and $13 for children 10 and under with all proceeds benefiting camp improvement projects. Camp Workcoeman is located in the hills of northwest Connecticut in scenic New Hartford and Barkhamsted. The camp consists of approximately 427 acres on the shore of beautiful West Hill Pond, possibly the cleanest in Connecticut.
Established in 1924, it is one of the oldest continuously operated Scout camps in the country. For 95 years, thousands of Scouts and Scouters have had unforgettable Scouting experiences at Camp Workcoeman. This fine tradition of Scouting continues today.
